PO-02-204 COLCHICINE USAGE FOR PREVENTION OF POST ATRIAL FIBRILLATION ABLATION PERICARDITIS IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING HIGH POWER SHORT DURATION ABLATION

چکیده
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) can be associated with up to 10% incidence of post-operative pericarditis, suspected more prevalent the advent high-power short duration (HPSD) ablation. This has led widespread use colchicine, an anti-inflammatory medication, prevention post-AF pericarditis. However, utility preventative colchicine remains unproven. To evaluate efficacy a routine regimen post-ablation pericarditis in patients (pts) undergoing HPSD AF. We retrospectively evaluated consecutive single-operator AF procedures at our institution from June 2019 July 2022. A protocol was introduced 2021 None pts before this date received while all after 0.6 mg twice daily 14 days starting on procedure day. Pts were divided into and non-colchicine groups (gps). recorded post chest pain, emergency room (ER) visit pericardial effusion, pericardiocentesis, any ER visit, hospitalization, recurrence cardioversion (CV) within first 30 post-ablation. also colchicine-related side effects medication compliance. Out 225 procedures, 20 excluded lack follow-up data, yielding 101 gp 104 gp. Both gps well-matched demographic procedural parameters (Table 1). There no significant difference pain (9.9% vs 8.6%, p = 0.7), effusion (2.9% 0.9%, 0.1), visits (11.9% 12.5%, 0.2), 30-day hospitalization (0.9% 0.96%,p 0.3) need CV (3.9 % 5.7%, 0.2) 15 had severe diarrhea, out which 12 discontinued it prematurely (Figure In retrospective analysis, not reduction or Colchicine usage diarrhea affecting patient Our findings argue against AF-ablation

Left Atrial Anatomy in Patients Undergoing Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation.
Background: Left atrial anatomy is highly variable, asymmetric, irregular and three-dimensionally unique. This variability can affect the outcome of atrial ablation. A catalog of anatomic varieties may aid patient selection and ablation approach and provide better tools for left atrial ablation. Methods: We analyzed computed tomography scans from 514 patients undergoing left atrial ablation. Im...

A 70-year-old man with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation was referred for pulmonary vein isolation. Past medical history included ischemic heart disease and a right hemicolectomy for Duke’s C carcinoma 10 years previously. Presenting ECG showed sinus rhythm with a normal axis and evidence of left atrial enlargement (Figure 1). Preoperative echocardiography demonstrated normal left ventricular stru...
متن کاملOutcomes of Medicare beneficiaries undergoing catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation is common among older persons. Catheter ablation is increasingly used in patients for whom medical therapy has failed. METHODS AND RESULTS We conducted a retrospective cohort study of all fee-for-service Medicare beneficiaries ≥65 years of age who underwent catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation between July 1, 2007, and December 31, 2009. The main outcome me...

Fueled by dissatisfaction with pharmacologic strategies to treat atrial fibrillation (AF), the results of basic and clinical investigation into the understanding of AF initiation and maintenance mechanisms, and the explosive development in catheter-based technologies, AF ablation has matured from a purely investigational technique to a preferred, safe, and effective approach for curing AF, part...
متن کاملAblation of atrial fibrillation.
Recognition that the initiation of atrial fibrillation often is dependent on arrhythmogenic foci within the pulmonary veins1 opened a new chapter in our understanding of the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation, which in turn has led to dramatic improvements in our ability to ablate atrial fibrillation. Based on experimental studies and clinical studies that used a variety of catheter and surgical...
